Dear Friends and Countrymen,

Recuperating from jet lag and the common cold, Rosey and I are indeed back in beautiful California after (1.)  enduring freezing temperatures to partake in the art of Venice, (2.)  enjoying the good country life with a friend in Umbria (also rich in art, and still cold), and (3.) a studying Rome with the masses of the world during Easter week.

1.  Snow at St. Marks, our first day in Italy

2.  Visits with a dear friend in Umbria – Planting the seeds for a group art and food trip in 2006.

3.  Tourists in Rome  with maps, cameras and gelato

What we really want you to know is what we are jumping into, in case some of it interests you.

  1. Sunday, April 10, Congregation Beth David is having an event at the South Bay Community Center from 2:00 to 5:00.  We will be among the exhibitors, and they are having many great auction items, including tickets to the Jay Leno Show.  There will be food and an entry charge.

  1. Classes are continuing at ART IS FOR EVERYONE.  These include painting and drawing for adults, a teen class, and a children’s class. You might have attended one of the eclectic Saturday classes.  Check out the website for current details.  C:\Website RosenthalArt\studio_news.html.

  1. Cuesta College Community Programs.  Beginning May 4, 2005, Rosey and Barbara will be teaching a series of five classes called "A Little History, A Lot of Art" at the Paso Robles Library. Classes will meet on Wednesdays from 9:30 to 12:00 noon. Each class will focus on a different artist and will include both their place in history and fun hands-on art activities. Enjoy learning more about the life and times of Albrecht Durer, Rembrandt Harmenzs Van Rijn, Francisco Goya Y Luciente, Georges Seurat and Henri Matisse.  For more information call the Rosenthals at 528-4946, or to enroll in one or all classes go to www.communityprograms.net.

  1. As I write Rosey, is headed for the new site of the Southern Renaissance Pleasure Faire at Santa Fe Dam.  He will see what he can salvage from the old booth.  Come to the Faire any weekend from April 16 to May 21 and you will see how the craftsmen have once again put their resour ceful and creative energy into creating a faire for your pleasure.  You will also get some inside stories of “What happened to Glenn Helen?”  in case you are wondering.  Get official version and directions at www.renfaire.com.

  1. May 27 – 31 Rosey will be mixing it up with the Science Fiction and Fantasy crowd at the annual BAYCON in San Jose.  (He will miss the 29th for my father’s 90th birthday party.)

  1. During this time, we are moving ART IS FOR EVERYONE to the larger front space on 2nd Street in Baywood Park.  That will give us room for more students and more options on how to use the space to promote art in Los Osos.

Thanks for staying with me to the end.  Hope to be seeing you and catching up on your news soon.

                              Sincerely,

Barbara Rosenthal
