1) THIS
SATURDAY AT 8PM - FOUR BABES!
Word about the Clark Center is
spreading. We've had FIVE SELL OUTS so far this year,
THREE of which were Association shows. Even though you might be
reading this on April first,
it's no foolin!
The next Association show is filling up
fast as well. The Four Bitchin Babes make their
Central Coast debut this Saturday night at 8pm with HORMONAL
IMBALANCE -
A MOOD SWINGING MUSICAL REVUE. The Babes started with four
richly gifted
singer-songwriters, then added 3/4 cup married life, five kids,
four part harmony vocals,
one piano, four guitars, one Rockin' Purple Bass, a dollop of
humorous social commentary
and a wardrobe to die for. Then they put this on the road
and allowed to steep for fifteen
years and you get HORMONAL IMBALANCE, the full length concert
starring Sally Fingerett,
Debi Smith, Nancy Moran and Deirdre Flint.
Their mix of
country, folk and funny is sure to have you dancing and rolling in the aisles.
Listen to their music on the front page of our website at
http://www.ClarkCenter.org

FRANK AND LIANE PARKES were honored as Clark Center Champions
for 2004!
Their picture is listed on the Volunteer page of the website at
As all our Volunteers know, this mighty duo keep our ushers,
concessionaires,
parking lot attendants and docent tour guides organized. This is
no easy task,
as our Champions put in almost 10,000 hours of service in 2004.
Kudos and
congratulations to the PARKES for going above and beyond the
call of duty,
for providing safety for the building and its patrons, and for
running a tight ship.
Our smiling, helpful CHAMPIONS IN GREEN are continuously
receiving high praise
from audience members and that is due to the PARKES hard work
and dedication.
Thank you again for all that you do!
It was also
announced at the Annual Meeting that we will be acknowledging
volunteers each month. January 2005 honors go to JOHN AKIN, an
Usher Captain
who volunteers for just about every committee, including the
2005 Halloween Ball
Gala Committee. February 2005 to the team of LEE AND QUERIDA
TELLKAMP for
heading up the new Wednesday Morning Poster Crew.
On
this last day of March 2005, we recognize JOHN BOWEN of Nipomo as
Volunteer of the Month. Sadly, John passed away on March 15,
2005.
Our hearts go out to his wife Carol and the rest of his loving
family.
John created the first Clark Center Association website and was
instrumental
in the planning stages of the building. Once the Center was
open, he gathered
groups from Black Lake to attend shows and continued to tout the
beauty of
The Clark to his various community and service groups. John was
a big man
with an even bigger heart. I always thought of him as the
UNOFFICIAL MAYOR
OF NIPOMO. Like many of us in the Clark Center family, we can't
believe he is gone.
He will be dearly missed.
4) PRESENTATION TO THE
SCHOOL BOARD APRIL 5 - 7PM
Similar to the presentation given at the Annual
Meeting, I will be addressing the
Lucia Mar Unified School District board of education on Tuesday,
April 5 at 7pm.
This annual presentation highlights what the Association has
contributed over
the previous fiscal year to the District, that owns the Clark
Center. Last years
highlights include providing volunteer hours free of
charge to school district events,
offering free tickets to see PHONK! to all AGHS staff and
faculty during January's
Teacher Appreciation night, and an update on the Associations
first year of its
HEART OF THE CLARK education/outreach program that brought in
children and
their families who had never been to the Clark Center before to
see special family presentations.
The school board meeting is open to the
public so feel free to come down and
see the presentation next Tuesday at 7pm at the New Board Room,
621 Orchard in Arroyo Grande.
5) NEW MEMBERSHIP
BROCHURE
Thanks to the generous donation of Dave Anderson, owner of
Central Coast Printing,
the Clark Center Association has its first Membership Brochure.
Dave donated the
printing of 10,000 brochures so we can mail to 8,000 new members
of our community
to let them know about the great benefits of Association
membership.
We'll keep 2,000 here at the Clark Center for patrons to pick up
while seeing shows.
If you haven't already done so, now is a GREAT TIME
to join. All members receive
invitations to Member Luncheons and the Annual Meeting,
an annual subscription to the BackStage Newsletter,
and access to Member Only $15 seats for all Association shows.
Annual memberships start at just $25 for individuals or $40 per
family.
Other benefits include complimentary engraved bricks in the
SpotLight Courtyard,
engraved seat plaques in the theater, and complimentary tickets
to Association shows.
For those members that have contributed over $10,000 to the
Association,
we are developing a special program - THE 10K PLAYERS CLUB.
Stay tuned for more information on this exciting new
development.
Of course the main reason our members continue to support us
is they
BELIEVE IN OUR MISSION - To promote the cultural and performing
arts
for the entertainment, education and enjoyment of our
community.
Thank you to all our members, volunteers, board of directors,
patrons and LMUSD staff for continuing to provide the support
needed to fulfill
our vision of making the arts thrive. I hope to see you Saturday
at The Clark!
