Constructive Criticism
Discuss movies
Welcome to the ourSLO.com movie forum. We're interested in intelligent comments about movies, movie makers, movie professionals, and yes, actors.
Please avoid incontinent statements such as real cool and avoid the word "like." In evaluating movies go to specifics: graphics, action sequences, dialogue, drama, content, sound, music, cinematography, acting, directing.

MORE about the movie forum.
We would appreciate reviews of quality films. Example of quality would include a high level of quality in several of the categories mentioned above. However, sometimes sufficient money for high quality is not available in categories like grand locations, sets, graphics, action etc. but can be overlooked for quality in dialogue, drama, high social value in content. I am thinking here of movies like "Pretty Dirty things" and "My First Mister".
It doesn't matter how old the movie is that you are reviewing either. 90% of the movies I watch are on DVD from netflix. A good 50% of those are more than five years old. I am thinking that is true as well of other viewers, especially in an area like this where we have only one theatre really that reaches for the unusual, regardless of age, and always looks for quality and isn't in love with Disney-type schmaltz, glitz, racism, and Fox News Channel like perversion of truth. Netflix, by the way, has a high volume of DVDs and some of them are of good quality. Their reviews, however, and often their quality ratings are more akin to the chique-stupid kind of reviews and evaluations one often sees in our local weekly papers.
Thank you for your participation.
